Alcantarea Imperialis 'Silver Plum'

Alcantarea Imperialis Silver plum gets its best colour in full sun however our first plant did well for over ten years in the shade in our back yard. Like all bromeliads it likes good drainage and water in the centre at all times. Because of the large volume of water the leaves can hold these plants do fine when we get long stretches without rain. It can take ten years for these giants to flower and produce spikes like the ones in the photo above. They do not like a heavy frost. Silver Plum is the name we chose for this outstanding alcantarea and will have our label if it is a genuine Silver Plum.
